Creative Creature

2021

"The Creative Creature" is a study about identity, processing, trauma, power, and control with underlying post-human and new materialist themes.

Originally named, "The Creative Cap," this study explored techniques including brain-computer interfaces, wearable technologies, design fiction filmography, painting, sculpting, and performance.

Originally I strived to use OpenBCI and conduct research on the creative process.

I later found ethical concerns with this approach and worked on creating a mock-up wearable device with the illusion of BCI capabilities.

I experiemented with my first iteration of design fiction with a short film.

I later experimented with different forms and mediums, thus the "Creative Cap" became the "Creative Creature."

Finally, I found closure with this study through a stop-motion animation piece.
